Roman ruins of Djemila Timgad Tipaza and Cherchell are remarkably conserved and deserve a thorough visit. Tipasa on the coastal road 70 km west of Algiers, allows to combine the discovery of the ruins and a swim on the beach. Djemila, located 40 km southwest of Setif, is probably the most impressive of its location in the mountain site. Timgad, east of Constantine, is for the incredible architectural plan of the Roman town founded by Trajan.
Like the other Algerian vestiges of the Roman Empire, which are best preserved in the world, Djémila, "the beautiful" in Arabic, deserves its name.
The ruins of Tipaza are those of two cemeteries, an amphitheater and Nymphaeum (port).
Located 70km from Algiers, Tipaza City is one of the most important examples of Roman rule in the Maghreb.
Created in the image of Rome by the Emperor Trajan in 100 AD, Timgad has survived the centuries to reveal all its beauty and majesty.
The city of Timgad is best known for the remains of the Roman city of Thamugadi beside which it is built.
